Police hold Van Persie for second night.
Arsenal footballer Robin van Persie will be held in custody on Tuesday night following his arrest in Rotterdam after an allegation of rape was made.Van Persie, who has at present not been charged with any offence, will see a judge on Wednesday when a decision could be made on whether to lay charges or possibly to free the Holland international.It will be a second night in the cells for Van Persie who was arrested on Monday evening.Reports in Holland say the alleged incident took place on Saturday night and the alleged victim complained to police over the weekend.The 21-year-old can be held for a maximum of three days without charge and a spokeswoman for the public prosecutor earlier explained: 'He is suspected of rape and our system is different to England.'
Finnan arrested in driving death case.
Liverpool full-back Steve Finnan has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, it was revealed today.The defender, who played in the heroic Champions League final victory against AC Milan last month, was involved in a collision in his black Range Rover which resulted in the death of a pensioner.Henry Nelson, 81, from Liverpool, suffered serious head injuries and died five weeks later in hospital. The accident happened in the Tuebrook area of the city on January 27 but Finnan, a Republic of Ireland international, was not arrested until more than three months later.
